Popping in to share five tea herbs that helps to naturally relieve your frustrations with your monthly pms symptoms and your menstrual cramps. I know chronic pms and period pain can be a headache, it affects a lot -- your mood, your sleep, your appetite, your work and your family life.

These symptoms are definitely a pain in the ass! Herbal teas are a great natural remedy for your pms symptoms and menstrual cramps.

Amongst other herbs these are some of my favs to drink and recommend for better period health. I started incorporating these tea herbs into my moon time regimen nearly six years ago when I begin studying, formulating and using herbs day to day. The results have always been great!

So get ready to kick your pms and menstral cramps to the side with these five tea herbs.

Chamomile Tea Herb for PMS and Menstrual Cramps

Chamomile tea or matricaria recutita possesses anti-spasmodic properties that relieves muscle spasms in the stomach, abdomen and uterus, which can relieve the painful symptoms associated with your menstrual cycle like bloating, constipation, and cramping. Drinking one to two cups of chamomile tea a day for a week before your period and even throughout can help.

An added benefit is chamomile's natural calming and relaxing effect on your mind and body. A compound named apigenin found in chamomile tea helps reduce the impact of excitatory neurotransmitter and hormones on the mind and body, helping to soothe an overactive sympathetic nervous system. Chamomile tea also helps modulate the actions of dopamine and serotonin, helping to offset or at least reduce the impact of depressive symptoms.

You can find chamomile herb in the Womb Steams, Period Tea and even our Calm Mood Tea.

Dandelion Root Herb for PMS and Menstrual Cramps

Dandelion root or taraxacum is another great herbal tea to help prevent menstrual cramps. Menstrual cramps can be worse if there are imbalances in estrogen and progesterone in the body. Most commonly, estrogen dominance. Dandelion root plays a role in purifying you blood and detoxification of the body, which plays a crucial role in detoxifying and clearing excess hormones in the body. This herb also help to prevent constipation, which is an important step in clearing excess estrogen from the body to support overall hormone balance.

Dandelion's main health benefits are not just for menstruation, as a byproduct, the benefits of this herb extends far pass your pms symptoms and menstral cramps - into whole body wellness.

Red Raspberry Leaf Herb for PMS and Menstrual Cramps

Red raspberry leaf or rubus idaeus is an astringent herb that works to alleviate your menstrual cramps by toning your uterine and pelvic floor muscles. Period pain and severe cramps are often a result of weak uterine muscles.

The secrets behind the use of raspberry leaf tea for the period are the fragarine and tannis found in the tea. Fragarine is usually used to treat the cramp in the muscle, especially in the pelvic. While tannis is usually used to strengthen the uterus. Both fragarine and tannis are very important to relieve the pain of period, such as cramps, nausea, and also diarrhea.

Raspberry leaf tea is also rich in vitamins and minerals like iron, vitamin C, vitamin B magnesium and potassium.

Ginger Tea for PMS & Menstrual Cramps

Ginger or zingiber is a great herbal tea for menstrual cramps due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger can be an effective PMS relief tea for use as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever with the ability to reduce pain as much as a common NSAID such as ibuprofen. You can drink tea with ginger in it daily. Ginger reduces the production of prostaglandins, which in return reduce common symptoms associated with PMS such as cramps, mood swings, and headaches.

You can also find ginger in my Period Tea.

Peppermint Leaf Tea for PMS and Menstrual Cramps

Peppermint or mentha piperita is another great herbal tea for menstrual cramps due to its muscle relaxant effects. A study looking at the effects of peppermint on period pain in women found that it helped to reduce the severity of pain and improve menstrual-related symptoms. Peppermint is advised for treating dysmenorrhea (period pain) and has lower side effects compared to medicinal drugs. Incorporating peppermint tea is a great way to help prevent or ease your pms and menstrual cramps.
